2018 Registration Fees

Modernians strive to keep its fees as low as possible, but we have some extra costs this year, that need to be passed on to our members. As our Junior Club is growing and becoming more successful, more teams are playing on turf and would benefit from more training time on turf.

This year, the Junior Committee has made a regular booking at the turf at Warwick Hockey Centre (Whitfords Hockey Club). This will be on Thursday afternoons from 5.30-6.30pm. Turf training sessions will be rotated through different age groups, and all grades will receive more turf training time than in previous years. Turf training costs money, which has been reflected in the Registration fee increase.. the benefit of more turf training time will greatly benefit the development of our players and club.

This year, Hockey Australia have introduced a higher player levy for each junior registration ($15 per player). This new charge is reflected in the fee increase.

The national registration database used to register hockey players across Australia, charge a fee of just over 4% in addition to your registration fees. This is the companys administrative fee to manage registrations and each clubs database requirements. Unlike many other clubs, Modernians currently absorb this cost on your behalf.

If you have any difficulty in paying the fees, please do not hesitate to contact our Treasurer to come up with a payment plan

You will need to be at the ground 30 minutes before your game for a warm up and coach talk. Hockey players will need their Mods t-shirt, blue socks, shorts and appropriate foot wear. Hockey sticks, mouth guards, shin pads, water bottles and heaps of enthusiasm are needed for each game! All our club coaches are volunteers and have “Working With Children” cards. A team coach and manager from the parent group is required for each team. Teams will be selected the week before the first game. These teams will NOT be chosen on ability alone, but also peer and school groupings where possible. On game day parents will be asked to provide oranges in a rostered system. A few times a year there is dinner after training, which is a highlight for the kids.
